[Assignment] It's My Party - Microsoft Excel Introduction

Background

Microsoft Excel is one of the most used computer programs. It is extremely efficient at storing numbers and doing calculations. You can also use it to store text, images, as well as make charts and graphs. Some jobs that might use Excel on a regular basis include accountants, bankers, stockbrokers, and scientists.

Directions

You have $1,000 to plan your upcoming birthday party. You're going to invite 49 of your friends and family to the party. So, that means you will have a total of 50 people at the party. Before you have the party, you want to make sure that you can afford all of the supplies. To do that, you're going to make a spreadsheet so you can budget your money.

Party Requirements

To have a good party, you need enough food and drinks for all 50 guests. You also need something for them to do. Your budget needs to include:

  1. At least one main course for each person such as a hamburger, hot dog, chicken sandwich, veggie burger, or burrito.
  2. At least two side dishes for each person such as chips, macaroni and cheese, veggie tray, or potato salad.
  3. At least two 12 oz. drinks for each person such as soda, tea, water, or juice.
  4. At least one slice of birthday cake for each person.
  5. At least one disposable plate, one set of utensils (fork, knife, and spoon), one 12 oz. cup, and two napkins for each person.
  6. Enough tables and chairs for each person to have a seat available.
